en Level of Depression, Anxiety, Stress, and Clinical Environment Stressors among Shiraz Islamic Azad University Dental Students, Iran Mental Health Mental Health پژوهشی اصيل Original Research Aims: Common psychiatric disorders and stressors among dental students can predispose them to other psychological problems. This study aimed to determine the levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and stressors among dental students at Azad University of Shiraz. Instrument & Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 112 clinical-level dental students at the Islamic Azad University of Shiraz, selected through census sampling, of whom 83 completed the questionnaires. Data were collected using a demographic information questionnaire, the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale, and the Dental Environment Stressors Questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS 23. Findings: The mean scores for depression, anxiety, and stress among the study participants were 84.48±9.02, 11.17±8.11, and 13.38±9.59, respectively. There were significant positive correlations among these psychological parameters (p<0.001); most notably, depression demonstrated a strong correlation with anxiety (r=0.9), as well as moderate correlations with both anxiety and stress (r=0.67 and r=0.66, respectively). Furthermore, regarding clinical environment stressors, the highest score was observed in the clinical education domain (22.01±7.00), while the lowest was observed in the academic factors domain (2.30±0.86). Conclusion: Dental students in the clinical phase at Islamic Azad University of Shiraz face varying degrees of stress, anxiety, and depression, largely influenced by stressors originating from their clinical education settings.
